New Business

New By-law regarding 501c3 – Grissom had to go to the Sterling Heights City Council regarding their licensing for Texas Hold ‘em.  They had to change their by-laws to state that they would plan to always be a 501c3 organization.  We will add this to our by-laws.

Girls Soccer Sports Bags & Rental of Liberty Park – Rocky thanked the Boosters for the support in the past and appreciated the change in the proposal.  Sports bags are approximately $1200 – 1400.00.  He is asking for 50% of the cost, not to exceed $600.  The second request is for 50% of the cost to rent the indoor arena for tryouts at Liberty Park.  Last year, they had asked for ½ the sports bags and new warm-ups for Varsity & JV and 1 set of bags.  This year they are requesting a second set of bags which will be given to Varsity, and last year’s bags will go to JV.  Trudy Osos moved to allocate money for the soccer bags not to exceed $600.00.  Carl Oberndorfer seconded the motion.  Motion passed.  Mary Guthrie moved to give $230.00 (of $460.00 total cost) for the rental of Liberty Park.  Carl Oberndorfer seconded.  The motion passed.

Social Studies requested $750.00 for Elmo and scan disk.  The history classes would use it and would affect 150 students.  Currently the school has an Elmo in the distance learning lab.  Carl Oberndorfer made a motion to purchase an elmo for the school for $750.00.  Mary Guthrie seconded.  Motion passed.

Physics Day – Ms. Stone had requested $1700.00 for 2 buses for Physics day by NASA at Cedar Point for her physics students.  The total cost is $1900.  She had applied for a grant to defray the cost, but was denied.  Last year we paid for 1 bus at $950.00.  Gail Salyers moved to spend $1000.00 for buses.  Mary Guthrie seconded.  Motion passed.

MAC Lanyards are given to the teams who win MAC championships.  We currently only have about 2 dozen lanyards left.  Julie ordered more lanyards through Corporate Game for $550.00.  Donna Kiely moved to spend $550.00 for the lanyards.  Patti Dunn seconded.  Motion passed.

LaCrosse – Donna Kiely thanked the booster club for considering her request on short notice.  This is the 3rd year for the team.  They are requesting $175.00 to replace some of the jerseys/shorts that have been torn, need new sizes, etc.  She is also requesting $130.00 for new game balls.  Cousino has paid for new score boards ($100.00).  She is also requesting assistance in purchasing a complete set of jerseys with number only (no name) for $1100.00.  Fundraisers have been short this year due to economic times.  Mary Guthrie moved to approve $305.00 for replacement of jerseys/shorts and game balls.  Trudy Osos seconded.  Motion passed.  Bill Carr moved to approve $600.00 for new white jerseys if Cousino matches the $600.00.  Judy Hart seconded.  Motion passed.
