Warren Mott Booster Club Minutes
October 17, 2011
Meeting called to order at 7:02 by Cindy Kneebone
Debbie was not in attendence. Cindy thanked everyone who has volunteered. She also thanked Lisa and Renee for all their hard work in organizing concessions. Dennis Piccin made a motion to approved the agenda. Lisa Corpus seconded. Motion passed.
Renee Lewandowski made a motion to accept the minutes from the September 19th meeting, with the correction of the spelling of “Report”. Lisa Corpus seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Tom reported the account balance as of 9-30-11 is $23,456.69. Lisa Corpus made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report as submitted. Renee Lewandowski seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Chuck reported a website has been set up online for volunteers to sign up to work tickets or security. This would minimize calls for volunteers. So far there have been 25 visitors to the sight. Two more ticket takers are still needed for the varsity football game on 10-21-11.
Kathy Maul was not in attendence.
Leslie had no news to report, but mentioned she has put up a link to the volunteer website.
Kellye report that she sent out an email requesting workers for the Texas Hold’em November 1, 2, 3 & 4. Times are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Sunnybrook. Our next dates are 11-22, 23, & 25 (closed for Thanksgiving) from 5:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. December’s dates are 12-27-11 to 12-30-11 from 5:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
Sue reminded everyone that they must be a Booster member to participate in voting.
Renee and Lisa are looking for volunteers for the game on 10-21-11 against Utica Ford. They are also looking for help with Volleyball on 10-18-11.
Mr. Noble reported on behalf of Mr. Martin that progress reports were sent home last week.
The 9th graders will take the Social Studies MEAP test on October 19, only for Social Studies.
October 26th is the Fall Band Concert at 7:00 p.m.
The November 8th there will be no school for the students due to elections. On the ballot is a Special Ed Millage for Macomb County to offset the cost of special education. Cindy Ross stated the millage would be an increase of $70 per year for the average home, and would ultimately help all students in WCS.
Conferences will be November 21 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and November 22 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., which is a half day of school. Booster will be providing a prize for the raffle.
Mr. Noble thanked volunteers for their time and effort, especially Dennis Piccinn and Chuck Vercellone. The new ticket system is working well. The school has been trying it for different uses: at the Homecoming dance and other in-school functioins. Mr. Noble may ask Boosters to purchase another hand held, which costs approximately $2,000.00.
There are still issues with the Highschoolsports.net website, which are being corrected.
The football teams play Utica Ford in their last regular season home game. If Mott wins, they will be in the playoffs, and the game will be played at home. If they lose, they may get a wildcard spot, and the game will not be at home. Tentative playoff game could be on 10-28-11.
Boys soccer plays their first district game against Royal Oak on 10-18-11.
Volleyball district games begin 11-3-11 against Cousino.
Girls Basketball starts 11-7-11.
Boys Basketball starts 11-14-11.
Senior /Parent night for Football, Cheerleading, Band, and Dance will be 10-21-11 at 6:30 p.m before the football game.
“Booster
Points”: Parents who volunteer could
earn points to be used towards “Mott Wear” items, with a limit of one (1) item
per school year. Points would zero out
in June and begin again when school starts.
Points would be retroactive from the start of this school year. Further discussion was tabled until our next
meeting.
Moocho Moola fundraising was tabled until next meeting so we can contact other schools and see how it went for them.
Due to Debbie Mazur’s absence, it was
suggested the By-Law committee receive copies of the by-laws to review.
Maryanne Barsotti requestedthe purchase of (1) five gallon hot beverage container keep hot chocolate in during cold weather football games. Tom Egan made a motion to purchase the container. Brian Toggweiler seconded. Motion passed.
WCSPA (Warren Consolidated School for Performing Arts) requested the Boosters purchase an ad in their program. This item was tabled until a WCSPA representative could be available. Tom Egan will contact Cousino and Sterling boosters to discuss purchasing an ad together.
Ms. Memminger requested the Booster purchase a Cat Disection kit ($540.00) and an Electrophiresis System III ($1035.00 for six labs). The labs can be re-used each year. Lisa Corpus made a motion to purchase the equipment for $1,575.00. Kellye Fazio seconded. Motion passed.
Brian Toggweiler reported that the Boys’ JV Soccer ended the season 6-6-3. Boys’ Varsity ended their season 4-10-3. Varsity begins district games on 10-18-11 vs. Royal Oak.
Michelle Worthington reported that three boys from the Cross Country team (John, Eni & Joey) made All County.
Sue Trombley reported that Allie Knoll from Girls Cross Country made All County.
Jenny Pysh from the Girls Swim Team broke a school record for the 100 Meter Breast Stroke.
Cindy Ross reported Marching Band received straight “1’s” at MSBOA.

Leslie Fountain suggested selling Mott Apparel should fall under something other than Concessions. Further discussion on whether to add another Board position was tabled.
The student involved in an incident at the Homecoming dance was suspended from school for 10 days.
