VP Academics – Helen Phillips

Helen Phillips is currently on leave of Absence.  Wendy Haberski filled in requesting help for the Homecoming dance.  Volunteers are needed for decorating on Friday 10/10 from 2:30 – 6:30 PM and Saturday, 10/11 from 8:00 AM until done.  Volunteers are also needed for the dance from 6:00 -11:00 PM in the coat check, refreshments and supervision.  The theme for the dance is “Haunting”

VP Communications – Ron Grobbel

The internet/website is the primary mode of communication for the Booster Club.  Emails are sent based on the membership lists.  The Website will include a calendar of events, forms, meeting agenda and minutes, emails of officers and posting of messages.  Ron is hoping to send a mass email to everyone on the membership list with valid emails once the site is up and running.  He has a senior this year and hopes to transition someone into this position before the end of the school year.  If interested contact Ron.

VP Fundraising – Judy Hurt

Concessions provide most of the fundraising.  Other activities include ink toner donations and the Texas Hold’Em Events.  These will hopefully be confirmed for a weekend in February, March, April and May of 2009.  Judy also has a senior this year and will be looking for someone to fill her position next year.  If interested in learning more about this position see Judy for further information.

Membership – Maryanne Barsotti

Current membership is 86 members.  If you are interested in becoming a member, complete a membership form and forward it to Maryanne.

Concessions – Wendy Haberski

The booster club runs concessions for all sports except boy’s basketball.  Football has the biggest need of help especially on Varsity Football nights.  Signup sheets were passed around.  Indoor concessions are also needed for volleyball.  Wendy also has a senior this year and hopes to have someone volunteer to shadow her this year to move into this position next year.  If interested contact Wendy.

It was suggested that all sports teams should help with concessions especially for their own sport.  This would help eliminate much of the phone calling for volunteers if each sport helped recruit parents for their events.  Contact Wendy with any volunteers.

Leslie Fountain brought up the idea of recycling the pop cans at the games.  Some discussion as to ways to avoid garbage being thrown in the cans and cans could be placed by the concession stand and at the gates.

Administration – Cathy Neuhoff

Ms. Neuhoff welcomed the new officers and parents.  She thanked the booster club for the support with the open house.

Plan Test will be given 9/23 to sophomores.  A mock ACT will be given on 9/24 to help prepare for the ACT.

Homecoming Dance is October 11th – 6 teachers have signed up to supervise

SHHS had a raffle to increase their parent teacher conferences.  We would like to do the same.  Renee Lewandowski made a motion to give up to $300.00 for a Wii which would be raffled off at the Parent Teacher Conferences on November 13th.  1st Leslie Fountain, 2nd Sherry Walkowski.

Ron Grobbel voiced concern regarding the transportation of Warren Mott students to CPC.  Students are arriving 15 minutes later than other schools.  Wendy stated that this was due to budget cuts.  Students are not being picked up in their neighborhoods for CPC, but rather picked up at Warren Mott after they have arrived by their neighborhood bus and then shuttled to CPC.  Ms. Neuhoff stated she will check into this.

Julie Sroka asked when MEAP results would be sent home.  Ms. Neuhoff stated the results came in during August and should be mailed out soon.

Athletic Director – David Noble

Mr. Noble thanked everyone for all their help and things have been going smoothly.

72 new chairs and racks should arrive in the middle of October.

Bill Carr made a motion of up to $500 for new football chains.   1st Jamie Dunn, 2nd Leslie Fountain.
