Call to Order: Nancy Krentkowski at 7:15
Nancy wanted to make sure everyone filled out and turned in their Boosters application for this school year. Reminded everyone of the bylaw revision that an application must be completed and turned in prior to the first membership meeting of the school year or, if completed at a membership meeting, is not eligible to vote until the following meeting.
Nancy welcomed everyone and explained what the Boosters support, explained fundraisers, concessions and how we need your support in everything we do. Veramay scholarship will need people to handle this. Also mentioned most of the board will be stepping down at the end of this year and to please consider a position. Mentioned a golfing tournament in the memory of teacher Joan Sierzega, passed around the flyer.
Minutes: Minutes of May 20, 2002 meeting were distributed and reviewed. Minutes accepted as written. Read thank-you correspondence.
Treasurer's Report: The May final report and September preliminary were distributed and reviewed. Nancy accepted reports as received.
Executive Reports:
VP Academics - Denise McGraw: Extended a thank you to Chris Perry and Julie Cooper for helping with the Coke deliveries to concessions. Could use the help if someone else would like to help out with these deliveries usually happen between 9:30-11:30 just need to open concessions so delivery can be made. Thank you to everyone who has helped with concessions thus far. Spirit week is September 30 through October 5. September 30, 7-10:00 PM is the drive in movie we will have concessions for this. October 2, Ice Cream Social need volunteers to help serve this runs from 7-10:00 PM. Homecoming Dance need help with decorating in the morning and help at the dance. We need a person or persons to pick up 125 2-liter bottles of pop - Lori and Cindy volunteered to do this - Thank you! Mentioned Float building, and will need help with concessions for the October 10 freshman football game. Passed around sign up sheets for the upcoming events mentioned.
VP Athletics - Greg Garavaglia: Passing around a calendar for ticket takers for upcoming October athletic games please sign up if you can help out. Some parents gave reports on the fall sports. Greg informed parents that although Warren Mott does not charge for freshman games, some of the other schools do.
Athletic Director David Noble: Mr. Mocny introduced the new athletic director Mr. Noble. Someone asked about the athletic passes that were purchased at the beginning of the school year, as some folks still do not have theirs. Mr. Noble explained they can be picked up at his office. Mr. Noble thanked the Boosters for being so helpful. Talked about the boys golf team being undefeated! The Soccer field score board - we could not accept it as the spelling of Marauders was incorrect - hopefully it should be coming soon. The pool is being worked on hope to be ready by November 1. Warren Mott has been getting positive PR on the channel four program State Champs the past two weeks we have been mentioned for football. Also TV Warren has televised two of the football games possibly one more and also basketball games.
VP Communications Steve Kranson: Steve has been working to get the Boosters web site up and running. The new site name is www.warrenmottboosters.com Pictures, calendars, events all are welcome get the information to him to be posted. Please take a look at the site!
VP Fundraising - Chris Perry: Last year we had the Warren Mott Millionaire game. This year we will not be doing it due to the low participation rate. We will incorporate a fund raising for clubs and such with our annual fruit sale. We are calling it a fruit-a-thon. All you have to do is designate whom you want your sales to support. Sale starts October 1 and ends November 7. She has forms. This year we will once again have staff student basketball and volleyball games. At conferences this fall we will be selling Mott ornaments for $5.00. We also have key chains $3.00 and seat cushions $5.00. Also at conferences we will be raffling off a signed Red Wing Jersey (not sure which Red Wing yet). For Homecoming, will be selling football suckers. In the spring we will have a reverse raffle. Someone asked about the road rally will we have again this year? Chris will take this into consideration.
Membership - Pam Gonzalez: Good to see a lot of new faces here tonight. So far we have around 100 members signed up. You will be getting a postcard a few days before each Boosters meeting as a reminder. I have been asked this year to make calls to members when help is needed for events, I encourage all of you to come to the meetings.
Administration: Mr. Mocny welcomed all to the 2002-2003 school year. This year has started off well. We have been busy having cement work done new modules out back for the extra space needed. Renovations to the building will be done right now; the annex is being worked on. There have been a lot of changes along with thirteen new teachers hired.
New Business: Sports trainer Erica Bierkamp asking for $168.00 for anatomy posters. Motion made to approve, seconded, motion passed. Schwan's here to speak about their company and fundraising for the Boosters, passed out samples of ice cream. Band Boosters asked for our support to sponsor a hole for an upcoming golf outing. Motion to approve $100.00 made, seconded, motion approved. Jerry Tarabek spoke about the bowling club. This club is open to all boys and girls and they depend completely on themselves for funds. Bowling will start October 1st; he is looking for contributions to keep this club running. If you have any questions and or donations he can be reached at 586-264-0432 or during the day 586-530-5522.
Nancy mentioned a letter received from Big Boy restaurant regarding fundraising, Chris Perry will look into it.
