Warren Mott Boosters Meeting Minutes September 8, 2003

Call to Order: President Nancy Krentkowski at 7:15pm.

Minutes: Minutes of May 19, 2003 meeting were distributed and reviewed. Minutes accepted as written.

Treasurer's Report: The May through August final and September preliminary were distributed and reviewed. Nancy accepted the reports as received.

President - Nancy Krentkowski: The Warren Mott Boosters support everyone, not just the athletic clubs. We are one Booster Club that covers the whole school. Last year we contributed $9840.00 to support various groups. We need everyone's help and support. New parents are needed to help at concessions, dances, security and ticket takers for sporting events, fruit fundraiser. Anyone interested in having his or her business participate in our ink cartridge disposal (Tonerinx), please contact a board member. There is a disposal bin located in the Media Center. There will be several board positions open for the 2004-2005 school year. Anyone interested in shadowing some of our board members this year, President: Nancy Krentkowski, Vice President of Athletics: Greg Garavaglia, Fundraiser: Cindy Peters, or Vice President of Communications: Steve Kranson, please let us know. If there is no one willing to assume the position of President for the 2004-2005 school year by August 24, 2004, the Boosters will have to disband.

VP Academics - Bonnie Vettraino: Volunteers are needed for the Drive - In movie on September 22, the Ice Cream Social, September 24, and the Homecoming Dance on September 27. Sign up sheets were passed around. There will be other events coming up that will be in need of volunteers. Please come to the Boosters meetings to sign up, or contact Bonnie at 586-573-8564.

VP Athletics - Greg Garavaglia: Sign up sheets were passed around for various sporting events. He is in need of ticket takers and security for upcoming sporting events. Kelly Bondy agreed to run the 50/50 raffle at the football and basketball games.

VP Communications - Steve Kranson: Events are on the website. Anyone with any new information, pictures, etc. can contact Steve at www.warrenmottboosters. He is looking into a cell phone-recycling program.

VP Fundraising - Cindy Peters, Mary Herzig, Cindy Kinder (CMC): Waterproof Warren Mott sports blankets are presently being sold for $35.00 each. A request was made to order 48 additional blankets at a cost of $1197.60. Nancy Krentkowski made a motion, Kelly Bondy seconded the motion and it was passed. Look for your Fruit - A - Thon forms in your Boosters packet that were mailed at the beginning of the school year. This is a very important fundraiser. Delivery should be available in the gym during the week of December 8th. If everyone could order at least one box, we would make a huge profit for our school. Additional order forms are in the school's main office or at the next Boosters Club meeting. You may also contact Cindy Peters 586-558-7004, Cinder Kinder 586-574-2736, or Mary Herzig 586-558-4013.

Concessions - Fred and Jan Slozek: Help is needed at the concession stand. There will only be one free refill of popcorn given. Pop, popcorn, nachos and candy will be sold at the Drive - In Movie, no hot dogs or pizza.

Membership - Debbie Willard: There are 84 registered Boosters members. We need more involvement to make this a successful year. Please come to the next meeting and fill out a Boosters Membership form. There is no fee. We need a new Health Council Representative; Debbie was one in the past. Linda Rotarious accepted the position.

Administration - Mr. Mocny: Welcomed everyone to the meeting. The Annex is on a two-week delay. It should be done by September 15th and ready for occupancy by September 17th or 18th. North House will be shutting down for renovations. Teachers and students will be moved. The 72 lockers that go around North House will be eliminated. Alternative locations are being sought at this time. A covered building walkway will be constructed from the gym to the Annex. The Cafetorium and kitchen will be shut down in March. Students will be eating in the gym. Brown bag lunches are being encouraged as the menu remains up in the air at this time. Freshmen Rush was a huge success. It helped to make the transition to the High School much easier. Student ID tags are to be worn at all times. This is a matter of safety. There are too many children moving in and out of the building at all times of the day. This will be enforced starting September 12th or 15th. Teachers are to use a "positive" approach to encourage the students to wear their tags. Lanyards will be supplied to the students to wear their tags on. Any lost tags will have to be replaced at a cost to the student.

Athletic Director - Dave Noble: Guidelines for the sports passes discussed. Only immediate family members allowed. Description is available in your Warren Mott packet that you received at the beginning of the school year. There is absolutely no re entry to games once you leave. There will only be an acception made in the event of dual sporting events taking place. A stamp will then be required for re entry. Prices for games will not be raised this school year. Mr. Noble thanked everyone for their help at the sporting events. A Meijer fundraiser is being looked into to help support the athletic program. The Boys Football team did a great job selling their football coupon cards. The Girl's Cross-Country team won their alumni meet on September 6th. Girl's Tennis won on September 8th. Girl's Basketball starts on September 9th. The Boy's Soccer has a 4 -1 record as of September 8th.

New Business:

The Schwans representative gave a fundraising speech. Anyone interested can fill out his or her form that was available in the school packet that was passed out at the beginning of the school year. Our school makes a profit on all sales. All items are home delivered. Student Leadership passed around sign up sheets for any parents that wish to sponsor the building of class floats. Garages are needed for one to two week periods. Students are wishing to build bigger and better floats this year with the help of parents. Also snowmobile type trailers are needed to haul these floats. The Homecoming Parade will take place before the football game on September 26th. It will start at Beer Middle School and progress down Revere to Mott. Coach Milanov requested $2000.00 for new headsets for the football team. Dave Noble contributed $500.00, and Mr. Mocny is floating a loan for the remainder of the total cost of $7400.00 The loan from Mr. Mocny needs to be paid back over a two-year period by the football team. The new headsets should last from 8 to 10 years. There will be a small cost to update and refurbish them, which will be paid for by the football team. Denise McGraw made a motion to give the $2000.00, Cindy Peters seconded the motion, and it was passed. Greg Garavaglia spoke on Coach Schmidts behave, requesting the purchase of 30 pair of practice pants to match the jerseys for the Girl's Basketball team. The cost was $500.00. Cindy Peters made a motion to grant the request, Mary Herzig seconded the motion, and it was passed. Committee Reports - Denise McGraw: All Night Senior Party will meet September 15th in the cafetorium at 7:00. Many volunteers are needed. If there is no parent participation, there will be no party.
