Call to Order: President Nancy Krentkowski at 7:10pm.
Minutes: Minutes from the last meeting, January 12, 2004 were distributed, read and approved.
Treasurer's Report - Sue Crile: Sue distributed the final report of January 2004 and the preliminary report of February 2004. The report was reviewed and accepted. Sue stated the recipient of the Dan Krall scholarship from last year never cashed the check. Nancy said that she would follow up with the student to see what his status is.
President - Nancy Krentkowski: Nancy welcomed everyone to the meeting. Nancy informed all members that Bonnie Vettriano would be sharing part of the meeting with her since she is interested in the position of President for the upcoming year. All positions will be open for next year. Nominations will be taken at the March 15th Boosters meeting.
VP Academics - Bonnie Vettriano: Snowcoming will be on Saturday, February 28th from 7:00 - 11:00pm. Bonnie will be calling all of those who signed up to help at the dance.
VP Athletics - Gregg Garavaglia: Gregg was not present at the meeting. He was at his daughter's Volleyball game. Liaisons spoke on behalf of the sports teams. The wrestling team is struggling. There are four weight classes not represented. It is a very young team with only two seniors. JV is filling Varsity spots. Volleyball is doing well with Varsity first in division. JV took third in their tournament.
VP Communications - Steve Kranson: February 21st the bowling team will be sponsoring moonlight bowling, $20.00 a person at Universal Lanes. 140 people may participate. The play Tommy will be going on to regionals in Ann Arbor Saturday, February 21st. Also the play Tony and Tina's wedding will be performed at the PAC this month.
VP Fundraising - Cindy Peters and Mary Herzig: There will be a staff /student volleyball game on March 26th at 7:00pm. Admission will be $3.00, no passes allowed. There was a discussion about the amount of funds available for the rest of the year. Suggestions for different fundraisers were discussed. There seems to be a lack of participation by parents concerning fundraisers. The idea of a donation being made to the Boosters as opposed to purchasing fruit was suggested.
Membership - Debbie Willard: We have 116 members with an additional member joining at this meeting. There was a discussion about possibly instituting a small fee for membership next year.
Administration - Mr. Mocny: Construction is going well. North House will be open after the break. South House will be closed next. The cafeteria will be closed in March. We are approximately three weeks behind schedule. We appealed our Blue Ribbon status, as did the other two high schools, ours was accepted. We shall be receiving a "B" and obtaining Blue Ribbon status. This will be a positive influence in our community. More parents will want to send their children to Warren Mott. We have received our two new scoreboards. We also have a new competition mat for wrestling.
New Business:
We had a request from Mr. Sepke on behalf of the Science Olympiad for $200.00 to purchase ten hoodies for the students who participate. Denise McGraw made a motion; Lynn Dibartolomeo seconded it. The motion was voted on and passed.
Mr. Oravec requested $1000.00 for a portable sound system, which is needed during competitions for the Thespian Society. This system is very important to insure that our students are participating on an equal level with the other schools. It can also be used for other events. Julie Sroka made a motion; Lori Kusmierz seconded it. The motion was voted on and passed.
Coach Kovach made the last request on behalf of the Bowling Club. He requested $700.00. $480.00 was for reimbursement of the bowling shirts and $220.00 was to cover tournament fees. There was a discussion about the Boosters not covering entry fees. Vickie Kondziolka made a motion to give the Bowling Club $480.00 towards the reimbursement of the bowling shirts, it was seconded by Denise McGraw. The motion was voted on and passed.
Vickie Kondziolka will be chairing the Veramay Scholarship Committee. Revisions will be made this year to the point system. A sheet was passed around for those who want to sign up.
Committee Reports
Denise McGraw: All Night Senior Party is still in need of volunteers. The next meeting is February 23 in the Media Center at 7:00pm. Prizes are needed for the golf outing. 50/50 tickets and Marauder Grams will be sold at conferences.
