Warren Mott Boosters Meeting Minutes March 15, 2004

Call to Order: President Nancy Krentkowski at 7:04pm.

President - Nancy Krentkowski: Nancy asked everyone to read section 2 of the by laws discussing voting procedures. You must be a registered booster member and have attended at least one meeting prior to being eligible to vote. Nancy reported that we received a check from Schwan's for $33.82 and a check from Tonerinx for $277.00.

We will be having a Krispy Kreme donut fundraiser. Teachers, students and parents are being asked to sell 5 one dozen boxes of glazed donuts. Each box will cost $5.00. We will receive half of the amount sold as profit. I.E. 5 dozen boxes at $5.00 each = $25.00, we will make $12.50 per 5 dozen. Mr. Mocny wants flyers to be mailed home to parents. The order along with payment is due by April 7th. You may drop off your order at conferences on April 6th. Pick up will be on Thursday, April 22nd from 3:00 - 7:00pm.

Minutes: Minutes from the last meeting, February 9, 2004 were distributed, read and accepted.

Treasurer's Report - Sue Crile: Sue had submitted a revised report, which was more accurate in showing monies allocated and approximations of monies coming in. There was a brief discussion concerning the amount of money that is to be left over for next year. There will be a better estimate of that amount at next month's meeting. There was also a discussion about the Boosters filing a 5013C form for tax exempt purposes. All schools are being required to do so. There will be a one time filing fee of $500.00. The treasurer's report was read and accepted.

VP Academics - Bonnie Vettriano: Bonnie thanked all of those who worked at the Snowcoming Dance. There were approximately 869 students who attended. She passed around a sign up sheet for workers needed for the Spring Fling Dance on Friday, April 23rd from 7:00pm - 10:00pm.

VP Athletics - Gregg Garavaglia: Gregg thanked Gary Wolf and Tom Haberski for helping out with security. We will receive approximately $1400.00 profit from ticket takers. Liaisons from Volleyball spoke. Varsity was undefeated until districts. Volleyball did very well this year. The Dance team came in 4th place at Kimball. Basketball, Varsity lost in districts to DeLaselle. JV had a 1 -19 record and Freshmen were 7 - 12. Bowling, Boy's Varsity is in first, Girl's Varsity is in second, Boy's JV is in second and Girl's JV is in first. The Bowling fundraiser had a $6500.00 profit with 158 participants.

VP Communications - Steve Kranson: Steve said that Tonerinx is going very well, however, the person in charge might drop out due to school and work pressures. Steve said that he is willing to continue the program and is talking to the representative about the details. He is willing to store the cartridges in his garage if need be. Vickie Kondziolka also offered to do the same. The program is very profitable and no one wanted to see it end. Steve mentioned that Beer Middle School will be having a Coney Night on Tuesday, March 23rd from 5:45 - 8:00pm. Mott's Big Band will be playing along with the Middle School bands. Mott's Concert Band received a Division 1 rating at Band Festival and the Symphonic Band received a Division 2 rating.

VP Fundraising - Cindy Peters and Mary Herzig: There will be a Staff/Student Volley Ball game on March 26th at 7:00pm. Admission is $3.00, sorry no passes. The Circle of Champions will be doing a raffle and collecting books for Children's Hospital. Mr. Mocny mentioned that concessions will be sold at all games next year.

Membership - Debbie Willard: Anyone wanting to become a Booster member must fill out an application form. We now have 125 members. All members receive a reminder card in the mail about upcoming Booster meetings.

Administration - Mr. Mocny: We need more parents to attend the conferences on April 6th. We have received our Blue Ribbon banner. The Blue Ribbon celebration will take place on April 19th at 10:00am in the Annex. There should be media coverage. A number of legislators along with the Governor are invited. April 7th is the last day of lunches. Beginning April 19th, lunches will be served in the new gym, only pizza and subs will be available. The front of the school is now opened. The pool entrance will be closed. We are pretty much on schedule with the construction. South House is going much better. The cafeteria will not be opened when school starts next year; it will possibly be available in November. The pool will be closed over the summer. There will be no gym available for the basketball practice over the summer because of the new floor being installed. Maybe Beer or Fuhrman will let us practice in their gym. Next year there will be a Ninth Grade Academy. The students will be in South House. This program should help students who are "at risk". There will be a Rush Week again this coming school year for the incoming Freshmen. It was a great success last year, and helps the students to make a smooth transition.
