Warren Mott Boosters Meetings Minutes April 19, 2004

Call to Order: President Nancy Krentkowski at 7:14 pm.

Minutes: The minutes were reviewed and accepted. Secretary Vickie Kondziolka read two thank you notes. One note was for Mr. Kepke concerning his gratitude for our contribution of $200.00 for the purchase of hoodies for the Science Olympiad Team. The other note was from Coach Bullis, thanking us for the funds he received toward the purchase of a net system for the volleyball team.

Treasurer's Report - Sue Crile: The report was reviewed and accepted, Sue stated that we are in the process of acquiring a new id number for tax purposes. We received $175.00 from the Krispy Kreme donut sale as well as $220.00 in donations at conference time. We will be supplying the snacks during MEAPS week also per request of VP Laurie.

President - Nancy Krentkowski: Nancy went over the by laws regarding voting procedures. An active voting member must have completed and submitted an application for membership, actively support the activities of the club, subscribe to the purposes, constitution and bylaws, and regularly attend and contribute to club functions.

VP Academics - Bonnie Vettriano: The Spring Fling dance has been postponed by request of the Leadership Committee. Registration and envelope stuffing sign up sheets were passed around for August 12th and 24th. Bonnie also passed a sign up sheet around for Gregg Garavaglia regarding ticket takers for May 21st and May 28th.

VP Communications - Steve Kranson: Steve is looking into a paper-recycling program for next year. Papers would be dropped off in a dumpster with a check given to the Boosters. This will be discussed with the new administration in the fall. New showcases are being built to accommodate the school's growing collection of awards.

VP Fundraising - Cindy Peters and Mary Herzig: $594.00 was raised at the staff/student volleyball game. Cindy thanked all of those who volunteered. Sign up sheets were passed around on behalf of Jan and Fred Slosek for concession workers needed on May 21, and May 28.

Membership - Debbie Willard: We have 125 members. Debbie asked if anyone would like to join at this meeting.

Administration - Mr. Mocny: Mr. Mocny informed all those whom did not already know about the death of one of our senior students, Rozan Allewerdi while on a trip to Cancun. The students had a small ceremony outdoors in memory of him. Mr. Mocny stated that the Blue Ribbon Ceremony held that morning had gone very well. He was presented with the "Crystal Flame" trophy by the State Board of Education President, Kathleen Strauss. The Blue Ribbon co-chairs, Julie Stanaway and Jeanne Peabody were also honored for their hard work. Many dignitaries were present as well as all seven members of the School Board. The Mott Jazz Band did a wonderful job with their presentation. Cindy Peters thanked Mr. Mocny for all of his hard work. Questions were asked about possible giving donations or planting a tree in memory of the deceased student. Anyone wanting to do so can send a donation to the main office. The Booster Board will make an executive decision as to the amount of our monetary donation. Construction is going very well. The students are now eating lunch in the auxiliary gym.

New Business:

Athletic Trainer, Erica Bierkamp, requested $360.00 for the school's logo to be placed on new water carts that she is purchasing. Most of the other high schools have them. Gregg Garavaglia had the paperwork and no one could view it at this meeting. Cindy Peters made a motion to grant the request; Pat Zane seconded it. There was much discussion about the cost and necessity of these nameplates. Some suggestions were made as to someone else possibly doing the job, be it a parent or another company. At the end of the discussion, a vote was taken and the request passed. Erica agreed to come to the next meeting with more information concerning these nameplates.

President Nancy Krentkowski, went over the list of Booster Board nominations:
President: Bonnie Vettraino and Lynn DiBartolomeo
VP Academics: Nancy Brown
VP Athletics: Gary Wolff and Tom Haberski
VP Fundraising: Mary Herzig
VP Communications: Steve Kranson
Secretary: Vickie Kondziolka
Treasurer: Sue Crile
Membership: Debbie Willard.

There were no new nominations made. Nancy asked if anyone wanted the position of concessions, no one did so Jan and Fred Slosek will continue with it for next year. Nancy reiterated that only those who are registered members, who have actively participated in Booster Club functions, might vote at next month's meeting. Votes will be taken by a secret ballot.

Committee Reports: Chris Perry reported for the Senior All Night Party. There are still openings for the golf outing. The garage sale will be held on May 8th from 9:00am - 9:00pm in the auto garage. Donations may be dropped off on May 7th. Please do not send in clothing. Anything not sold or pickup up after the sale will be sent to the Salvation Army. There was a discussion about changing the process of acquiring the funds for next year's All Night Party. Many suggestions were made. We need to increase the cost of tickets and cut back on all of the fundraising.

Veramay Scholarship Committee: Vickie Kondziolka stated that all applications were in the process of being reviewed and that the winners should be selected by the first week in May.

Meeting Adjourned: 8:07pm

Next meeting on May 17th at 7:00pm, possibly in the auxiliary gym.
