Call to Order - The meeting was called to order at 7:02 PM.
President: Lynn DiBartolmeo: Leadership is having a Halloween dance Friday October 28, from 7-10 pm. They are asking for Volunteers from 6:30 – 10:30, and asking the Boosters to provide cups.
Everyone is asked to sign in and give your e-mail address. If you are a new member today, you cannot vote at today’s meeting. Bi-Laws were passed out at the last meeting; we would like to make amendments to the bi-laws.
Add that the Sport Liaisons attend meetings:
(2.4) Sport Liaisons duties shall include attending booster meetings to report on their sport. At parent night, pass out the flowers, help at banquets.
Passing of student, teacher, or staff:
(4.3.5) Secretary Duties: Send correspondence and memorial contribution to the family. Bob Chuchran made motion for $200.00 Booster donation for passing of student, teacher, or staff Linda Rotarius second, it was voted and passed. If there is a passing of someone other then a student, teacher, or staff, it will be at the board’s desecration to send a donation.
Concessions are working well for the booster club, we still can use help at the girls basketball games concessions. Can middle school students help at concessions? We have NHS students that help with the food, but do not handle the money. As of now, we have enough help.
Looking into having a Euchre fundraiser at a hall after Christmas. Would like to have it at a hall for adults.
Need a volunteer for the Health Council – the next meeting is November 4, in the morning at the Administration Building. If anyone is interested, let the board know.
Minutes Secretary – Sharon Ouvry: Bob Chuchran made a motion to accept the minutes, Linda Rotarius second, the minutes stood approved.
Treasurer’s Report – Doug Ouvry: The report was read. Linda Rotarius made a motion to accept the minutes, Pam Cochran second, the report stood approved.
VP Academics – Nancy Brown: Homecoming went well; the Wedding Chapel was a big hit. Thank you to Pam, she made a great Elvis.
VP Athletics – Garry Wolff: Friday night is flower night for varsity football, varsity dance team, and varsity cheerleading. We need help at the girl’s basketball concession.
VP Communications – Martin Heitkamp: If you would like any date or meeting dates on the website you can e-mail Marty at mah48092@aol.com
VP fundraising - Judy Hurt: Ordered seat cushions and megaphones for the popcorn, they should be in this week. We will sell the seat cushions at the conferences also.
Membership – Debbie Willard: 146 members: She does not want to make phone calls every month to remind people of the next meeting. She does not have an e-mail address for everyone. We could send out one post card with all the dates of the meetings. Lynn suggested that we make a booster magnet with the dates and give them out at conference. She will check into this.
VP Concession – Diane Portis: Not able to attend meeting, but concessions are working well and if you work, you will have a lot of fun.
Administration: Mr. Brad Martin: Freshmen counselor is having a study session for the freshmen after school on Monday and Thursday. November 8, 2005, there is no school. November 10, Parent Teacher Conferences. Monday late day start is working well, the staff has a full 45-minute meeting that is very useful. Landscaping work and sprinklers are being done in front of the school.
Questions: Did we get new buzzers for the Quiz Bowl. Yes, we will purchase new ones.
Do we have to order flowers from the Country Square? No, the boosters can purchase flowers from whomever. However, check to make sure we do not have a contract by Warren Con. with any flower company.
There was a problem at the last football game. The students had things stolen from the band room during the game. Mr. Martin was made aware of this, he is checking into the matter.
Athletic Director David Noble: Thank you to everyone for all the help at the football games. Homecoming and last Friday October 14 were the biggest crowds we had, all went well. Fundraising – is optional, you can make a donation to the sport and not fundraise. Warren Con is reviewing the fundraising caps. Coaches handbook is being finalized should be out by next school year. Work has been done to the stadium, doors painted, the press box will be painted, and speakers have been fixed. Freshmen baseball and softball has passed, the JV baseball field will be worked on to make it playable. Coach Gary Scope is the new Varsity Wresting coach. Still interviewing for Varsity basketball coach, first round is done, three people were recommended for the second round.
Athletic Liaisons: Girls Varsity basketball is 2 – 10 rough start. Varsity football is doing well 5 -3, we have to win the last game to make sure we are in the playoffs. If we are at 5 – 4 we could still make playoffs, will find out on Sunday Fox TV Sports if we are in the playoffs.
Dance Team: The girls are going to Nationals in February to Orlando and are looking into a fundraiser. They were thinking of doing the concessions at the Palace, Bob Chuchran suggested that the Palace is not worth the time, to look into another fundraiser.
Quiz Bowl: Had one meet and they are going to State finals.
Bowling: Tryouts are November 21, 23, and 28 at Universal Lanes 3:30 – 5:00. Universal Lanes has a Warren Mott Banner in the building.
New Business: Mr. Karromi, Jason Teuleyrou, and Melanie Dozyj from Junior State of American, a new club at Warren Mott. They educate students to become informed citizens with politics and involvements in politics. There are 16 students in the group and eight of the students would like to go to Madison, Wisconsin for a convention. If will cost $95.00 per student, they were fundraising on Friday mornings, but this caused a problem with the cafeteria. They will not be able to earn the funds to go to the convention by November. Cranbrook is the only other school in this group. The meetings are on Thursday after school in room 403. They were asking the booster for a donation of $1,000.00. Motion was made by Pam Cochran, second by Linda Rotarius, it was voted and passed. We asked the group to come back and report on the convention.
Committee Reports – All Night Senior Party – Sharon Ouvry chairperson: We had the first meeting, only about 20 parents came to the meeting, I sent out a flyer to let the parents know what the meeting dates are. The next meeting is Monday October 24.
Debbie Willard asked to give the Health Council a $200.00 donation for this year, second by Linda Rotarius and asked if we can give last year $200.00 donation also. All in favor voted and passed for $400.00 to Health Council.
Wendy Haberski was at the Port Huron football game last week. It was their homecoming game and they had floats, old cars, parents with the homecoming court on the field at half time. Why did we stop with the floats? Can we add more to our homecoming? Mr. Martin will speak to the leadership group on how we feel. However, he thought our homecoming was well done.
