from "Marauder News" The Warren Mott High School Baseball team is ranked #1 in the state of Michigan in "Collegiate Baseball" magazine's pre-season poll. The team is also recognized as one of the top 50 teams in America ! Last season, the team made it all the way to the State Championship game before losing to Portage Central. The team returns 14 players, including 8 starters. Senior Nick Thurman was elected to the Pre-Season All-American team after becoming a 2002 All-State Dream Team selection and Macomb County Player of the Year. Senior All-State pitcher Scott Schlaff also returns. Last year's County Team of the Year will also play #7 league ranked Grosse Pointe South and #4 ranked Garden City during the regular season. "It's alot of fun when you are the hunter, but it takes a lot of hard work when you are the one that is being hunted. There is a big target on our back this year, and we need to be ready for the challenge", said Coach Shawn Maloney of the 2003 prospects. |
