Mott Bowling Week 2 Recap

The second week of head to head High School bowling took place this past Wednesday, November 13th at Rosebowl Lanes in Roseville, Michigan. The scores continued to climb as the competition began heating up in all the divisions.

Boys Varsity Division:
The Cougars from Dakota began to show their claws as they scratched out their first win of the season over Warren Cousino. Led by Jon Baich (218-198), Matt Lozier (211) and Chris Lowry (201) Dakota outpointed the Patriots 19-11. The Cougars also shot both Baker games over 200 for the first time this year (203-214) to take all 10 points available. Cousino was lead by Steve Bauer (205-203) and Brian Lake (203-192) In other action, Chippewa Valley lead by fine performances by Ryan Roberts (253-206), Jason Kavanagh (260-190) and Chad Golden (214-216) doubled up on the team from Warren Woods Tower 20-10 for their second win of the year. Tower was lead by Dustin Prytula (207-221) and John Postl (199-210). Chippewa Valley also posted two Baker ganes over 200 with scores of 251 and 212. Warren Mott also stayed undefeated at 2-0 by defeating Sterling Heights High School 22-8. Jon Kennedy (246-238), Justin Neiman (209) and Brian Lake (217) paced the Marauders while the Stallions were lead by Josh Jablonski (207) and Eric Flammand (201). Sterling Heights falls to 1-1 in the division and tied for second place with Dakota.

Girls Varsity Division:
The Warren Mott Girls team remained undefeated in the early going by downing the Sterling Heights team 28-2 for their second win. Sterling Heights was paced by Rachael Jablonski with a fine performance and a personal best game with 181 and a 239. The Marauders were lead by Sophomore Jessica Tyler (211) and Lindsay Felix (171). Macomb Dakota girls also came out winners by defeating Warren Cousino 22-8. Melissa Paul (172) and Erica Jaskowski (177) paced Cousino while Dakota was lead by newcomer Stephanie Methven (196) and Katie Burrows (166). And finally in the closest match of the day, the Warren Woods Tower girls posted their first victory as they squeake dout a 16-14 win over Chippewa Valley. Fine performances from Amber Gala (190-166) and Brandi Spanos (159-160) help hold the edge over the Cougars. Dakota was paced by Beth Roberts (150-173) and Noicole Wichman (154-159). Junior Varsity Division: The Warren Mott Girls team began league play this week against the boys teams and met with an uphill battle versus Chippewa Valley. Lead by Derek Yelinak (216) and Chris Zilli (195) the Big Red easily defeated the girls 25-5. The girls however, showed some moxie by winning the first Baker match 147-146 and then captain Jessica Hendrix took an individual point when she won her second gane match. Warren Woods Tower won their first match this year by downing Sterling Heights 22-8. Damon Betterton (160-195), Anthony Godell (177) and Matt Scitney (175) did their best but in the end performances by Chad Prytula (201-228) and Kevin Ignash (159) secured the win for Tower. The Warren MOtt Boys team took out some of the girls team frustrations on Warren Cousino winning their match 22-8. Jeff Peltier (200), Keven Beasley(201), Kris Smith (208) and Darryl Sage (186) paced the Marauders, who are now 2-0 in the young season. The Patriots were lead by Peter Rakijash (183) and Jesse Wilson (181). Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, there will not be a match this week. The next scheduled match is at Bonanza Lanes (Hoover, south of 10 Mile) on Wednesday, December 4th at 3:45PM. Come out and support your local high school and youth bowling and cheer on these high school bowlers.
