This past Wednesday,
the Warren Mott Marauders bowling teams continued their fight
for the lead in each of their divisions. The girl's varsity
which had fallen on hard times of late picked up a victory by
winning over the blind score this week. Lead by sophomore Veronica
"Big V" Wineski, who shot a two game total of 333, junior Nikki
Wilczek (320) and junior captain Jessica Tyler (320) the girls
improved their record to 4-2 and in second place, one game behind
divisional leaders Warren Cousino. The Lady Marauders will next
face the Lady Big Red from Chippewa Valley on Monday at Bonanza
Lanes.
The boy's varsity team
was looking to stay atop their division, currently tied with
Chippewa Valley, but faced an improving Warren Woods Tower team.
The boys started slow by shooting 163 in the opening baker match
but still won. They then followed that with a fine 234 to sweep
the bakers and take a 10-0 lead into the team game portion of
the meet. Lead by senior Richard Kruk's fine 257 game and 458
series along with junior Jeff Peltier's 212-405 performance,
the boys coasted to a 26-4 win and improve their record to 5-1
on the season. Both Richard and Jeff lead the team with 9-1
match play records and senior captain Paul Narlock is also among
the division leaders with a 7-2 mark. The boys will also bowl
Chippewa Valley on Monday at Bonanza. This could be the showdown
for the division title as both teams come into this week with
only one loss.
The boy's junior varsity
team was looking to stay unbeaten as they continue to lead their
division this season. This week was going to prove to be a challenge
because of drivers training and other conflicts, we only had
five bowlers out of the nine on the roster. All those there
needed to step it up and they did. Jason Provencher, team captain,
lead the way shooting a fine 246 game and finished with a two
game total of 421. Sophomore Damon Betterton strutted his stuff
as well shooting a 224 game and the rest of the team all chipped
in to help defeat the Sterling Heights girls' junior varsity
30-0. The win keeps the Junior Marauders atop the division with
a mark of 5-0-1. They next bowl the Sterling Heights Boy's team
on Monday at Bonanza.
The girls junior varsity
team had it a bit tougher than the other teams this week as
they bowled the Junior varsity boys' team from Sterling Heights.
Good performances from Kristy Jorgenson, Courtney Sitko and
Annie Lange allowed each of them take a match play point off
of their male opponent. The girls are hanging tough and looking
forward to bowling in the junior varsity state championship
meet against only girl teams. They are 1-5 in the division and
are in 6th place, ahead of all the other girls' teams in the
division and just behind the boys. Next week they face the girls
from Sterling Heights so let's see if we can get another win
and improve their record.
Don't forget, we have
our annual fundraiser coming up on February 21st at Universal
Lanes. It is a moonlight bowling event with prizes to be raffled
off and optional jackpots available to compete in. We have room
for only 140 people so get your paid reservations in early by
contacting Jerry Tarabek at 586-264-0432.
