Warren Mott Qualifies All Four Teams For Bowling Regionals

By: Coach Jerry Tarabek
February 16, 2003

This past Friday, February 14th at Sunnybrook Lanes, the Warren Mott Marauders Bowling team claimed regional positions for all four of the varsity and junior varsity teams. The girls' varsity team claimed the top qualifier position as Nicole Griebe and captain Nikki Wilczek lead the way with solid performances. Lindsay Felix, her sister Kim and Jessica Tyler also chipped in with good games to propel the girls to a fine 1832 total for their qualifying score. The girls from Chippewa Valley and Sterling Heights also advanced to the regional finals, which will be held on Saturday, February 22nd at Century Lanes in Waterford.

The boys' varsity team also qualified for regional play at Century Lanes next week. Lead by a stellar performance from Paul Narlock (267-237) and another good scoring day from Justin Neiman (225-238), the boys took the number two positions in qualifying behind a good Chippewa Valley team. Jon Kennedy and Chris Lepkowski also bowled well as the boys rallied from a slow first game start to finish strong with 204 and 227 in the baker games. Along with Chippewa Valley and Warren Mott, the Sterling Heights Stallions will also be moving on to the regional finals as well.

The boy's junior varsity team dominated the field as they distanced themselves from the second place team by over 200 pins to qualify first in their division. Captain Jeff Peltier displayed why he was voted the team captain as he posted games of 225 and 276. He had everyone stopped as he rolled the first nine strikes in the second game, only to have a 10-pin stop his run at a 300 game. Keven Beasley chipped in with a 212 game as the balance of the team continued to shoot well, no matter who was in the line up. Solid performances of 213 and 211 in the baker games locked it for the junior varsity as they cruise into the regional finals being held at Classic Lanes in Rochester Hills on March 2nd. Macomb Dakota and Sterling Heights will also join the Junior Marauders in Rochester Hills.

The girls' junior varsity took a regional position as well as they shot their best two-game series of the season with a 1358. Senior Jessica Hendrix shot her best game ever with a 162 and Jessica Biernacki continued her solid play by shooting 148 and 163. All the girls bowled well and are looking forward to their first ever appearance in the regional finals on March 2nd in Rochester Hills.

Don't forget, our fundraiser for the bowling teams in this coming Saturday at Universal Lanes starting at 9:00 PM. There will be door prizes and separate raffles conducted throughout the evening for Piston and Red Wings tickets, Bowling Balls and other great prizes.
